I think I figured is... last try..
"The 3 major car companies spend billions in health care per year for people who don’t even work for them anymore, and these companies are in trouble because of it."

The three major car companies are not in trouble because of health care or even retirement...They hired people to manage money for retirements and health care... They are in trouble because the people they hired turned out to be thieves. And they were stealing themselves.. and When the employees made their contributions to these plans that were supposed to be matched by the employer contributions... the employers would put off putting in their part ... hoping that the time to payout wouldn't ever come...

"Have you ever thought, “Yeah! I’m going to start a business so I can pay other people?” Of course not. You start a business so you can make money. Period. You pay other people as the means to an end in making that money."

If you expect make a living on the backs of others you should expect to do something to create loyalty.. Traditionally Two of these things were good pay ( forget that now) and some sort of benefit package... I have been working since I'm 16 and I am now 54... I have never had a job where I had FREE ( supposedly ) health care... I always paid a hefty premium , but it was less than it would have cost to get it on my own.. Businesses are the logical folks to do that or unions... and we have all seen how corrupt they can be... OF course looking at Enron OR GM Spending millions in PR money to say the UAW and the benefit packages that they should have been responsibly maintaining and didn't' are the cause of their problems.. Is a lot to swallow... Don't get me wrong .. I'm not a knee jerk union supporter and have always voted conservative... but Responsibility is responsibility... I have a stack of letters and MRI's here that would probably, in the great state of Massivechewshits, allow me to be eligible for SSDI.. But I am an Idiot, preferring to earn my way til I feel that couple small problem like neck compression and Spinal stenosis make it too freakin painful to continue making my living.. Right now I just deal with falling down and losing the feeling in my hands.. it's something I can deal with... BUT in a State where medical insurance is now mandatory and employers are NOT required to help... I can't pass a pre employment physical .. Luckilly for me my long suffering wife has a job with shitty pay and good medical benefits... And I have a buddy with MS who runs his own company... and I can work there when he has enough work to need two guys...

Now that Massivechewshits has MANDATORY health care will wal-mart move out like the insurance companies have???

But would Jesus shop there???? I agree with you whole heartedly... Why would he???

Of course not. You start a business so you can make money. Period. You pay other people as the means to an end in making that money.

At the risk of "missing the point" here Art...(and this is merely a personal comment)...I was in that union for a time being as well and unfortunately it soured my taste for unions as a whole. Its amazing how parallel yours and my universes are sometimes; perhaps there is a walker in my future. 8-) Oh...and consider this a public thank you.
