If You Can’t Beat Them…Join Them?!

“For the second time in less than two weeks, CNN’s Bill Schneider has advised the Republican Party that the path to success lies in moving to the left.”

You know that old saying, “He’s got his head up his ass”? Well this is way worse than that. This is akin to cave diving for colon cancer. I don’t watch CNN for obvious reasons, but I’ll tell you what, I want Bill Schneider’s job. I want to be able to completely make crap up and get paid for it.

I don’t know what planet this guy has been living on, but the Republicans lost the legislature because they *moved left* They refused to get tough on the border, and they spent like sailors at a strip club. This alienated some of the base to a degree, and it allowed the Democrats to put forth the nine “Blue Dog” conservative candidates to woo the less informed of us out there.

Looks like Mr. Schneider is one of the uninformed, doesn’t it?

“Schwarzenegger is now thriving. President Bush has already become a lame duck. In their leadership election today, House Republicans decisively rejected conservative insurgents.”

Mr. Schneider can pant and drool all he wants over Schwarzenegger . Apparently, he doesn’t realize that “Ah-nuld” is the governor of California. California is left of the left, and he’s flapping his gums, telling me about how obvious it is that the GOP needs to move to the left to win? Give me a break. Schwarzenegger moves to the left in the Sunshine State and gets elected. No kidding. That’s a really astute observation by Bill Schneider. He’s really giving CNN their money’s worth.

As a side note, I’ve had my doubts about Schwarzenegger’s conservatism from the beginning. He is a “Kennedy”, after all.
“Conservative insurgents”? What exactly are you implying Bill? Seems to me that you think conservatism is an abomination. Something that doesn’t belong, perhaps? A blemish in the fabric of the country, that you think needs to be, oh I don’t know…aborted? Check your facts, Bill. The House Republicans are about the only true conservatives left, and *they* are the ones who have prevented illegal immigration amnesty from being passed. Psst…I don’t know if you’ve noticed, Bill, but the majority of Americans want a fence, okay buddy? Thanks for calling.

Oh, and before somebody tries to call me out, I’ll just come out and say it:

I *do* think *liberalism* is an abomination. But the difference between Bill Schneider and I is that I will just come out and say it. I won’t try something “clever” like “liberal ‘insurgents’”.

“Look what happened in two states on Election Day. In Pennsylvania, Senator Rick Santorum embraced a deeply conservative philosophy and never wavered. He went down. Santorum lost the center. Independents voted overwhelmingly for the Democrat.”

Again, Bill Schneider is living in a dream world. He’s talking like Pennsylvania is a Republican stronghold, and that Santorum’s defeat was an earth shaking message being sent to us all about the demise of conservatism. This is complete and utter garbage.
Pennsylvania is a swing state which leans left, and the big cities, like Philadelphia, which also leans left, often tips the scales.
It may be true that Santorum lost the “moderates”. That is, if you believe in the concept of a “moderate”. Every moderate I’ve ever known is a leftist in disguise. More than that, whenever we get an “Independent” in the legislature, he or she almost always votes with the left. Don’t believe me? Watch what Joe Lieberman does in the near future. He couldn’t win as a Democrat because of his stance on the war, (thanks Joe, I mean that) but, watch him on every other issue. He’ll side with the Dems way more often than not.

I don’t trust moderates. Hell, I trust liberals more than moderates, and liberals make my eyes bleed. The reason why I trust a liberal more, is because a liberal will punch you in the face. You know who he is and you can see him coming. A moderate will shake your hand with his right, and stab you in the back with his left.

More sage words were never spoken than “Know where, you’re going, and know who’s coming with you.” Conservatives know where they’re going, and so do liberals. Moderates will go whichever direction in which they can use to draw more attention to themselves as the “smartest person in the room” at the cocktail party.

Liberals are scary enough, never mind the ones who are, and pretend not to be. The reason why Santorum lost is because he stuck to his guns, and the “moderates” of Pennsylvania came out and showed their true colors.

Rick Santorum lost with dignity. He’s a true conservative, and he didn’t “bend” just to get elected. People knew where he stood. I think he should be commended. We haven’t seen the last of him. He has his eyes on the White House, and he’ll be right in the thick of things. I guarantee it. Conservative Republicans need a standard bearer, and Rick Santorum may very well *be* that standard in ’08.

I just can’t get a grip on Bill Schneider’s line of thinking. Perhaps it’s just *wishful* thinking. Because, if he’s theories held any water, liberal GOP members Lincoln Chaffee and Mike DeWine wouldn’t have lost their seats.

Just be quiet, Bill. You are embarrassingly clueless.

If the GOP wants to regain power, it must re-assert itself. The GOP must actually *comply* with all its rhetoric on security, and reduce spending while keeping taxes low, and keeping government size and intrusion to a minimum.

Moving to the left is what got the GOP in its current mess to begin with.

Conservatism wins, and it *works*. Bill Schneider knows this, and that’s exactly why he’s trying to convince us otherwise.
