Yes, We *Do* Have a Frontrunner

I admit it. I’ve been lazy for a while now. But even I get to the point to where I can’t tolerate certain things.

Here we are, in the midst of the presidential election season, and as per usual, the media is completely negligent. Granted, there are many intricacies when it come to discussions of presidential primaries, but let’s chuck all that just for a second and get down to brass tacks.

This goes out to the media and everybody else who has their heads firmly planted in their rectum:

Mitt Romney is the current Republican Party national frontrunner. It’s not John McCain. It’s not Mike Huckabee. The media is lying, and a lot of people are buying into it, simply because they aren’t smart enough to pay attention.

Before I continue, allow me to clarify that Mitt Romney is not my first choice. Asa many of you know, I am a Fred Thompson supporter. However, no matter how this thing ends up, I’ll call this thing exactly how it *IS* all the way to November.

At the time of this writing, we are just a few hours past the conclusion of the Michigan primary. Governor Romney won Michigan by a sizable 9-point margin, despite what all the experts claimed when they cited polls showing spreads of five points or less. I personally expected this, because the Romney’s are rooted in Michigan, Mitt’s home state. Mitt’s father, George Romney, was Governor of Michigan, and a Republican presidential frontrunner in the 60’s

However, the media didn’t seem too interested in that. It will completely forgo the obvious force that history is in politics, in lieu of propping up the candidates it wants: McCain or Huckabee. Why do our friends in the MSM want one of those two boobs? That’s just it. McCain and Huck are seen as easily prey for the Democrats in the general election. …Boobs

Anyway back to the task at hand. I can hear everybody out there now. “Art, you’re crazy. How can you say Romney is the frontrunner? He’s only won one primary!”

Really? Look again, you American Idol-watching mouth breathers. You see, there’s this little event that occurs between the Iowa Caucuses and the New Hampshire Primary:

It’s called the Wyoming Republican Caucus.

“What? Really? They snuck another primary in on us? How can this be? Jon Stewart didn’t tell me anything about it! What is this place called Wyoming of which you speak?

Well, without getting into too much detail, start heading west. You’ll pass through it before you get to “Cul-eee-forn-ya”. Conservatives live there. Dick Cheney is from Wyoming, you know. Oooooooo!

Sorry…got distracted.

So, a bunch of people from the Land of Cheney got together and voted. Then they counted the votes. Guess what happened? Mitt Romney won Wyoming by 42 points, with Fred Thompson the distant second. McCain and Huckabee had what could best be described as “impotent” showings.

Now, when we look at this objectively, (Read: use basic math skills) what we know is this:

After four primaries, Mitt Romney has two landslide wins, along with a pair of strong second place finishes in Iowa and New Hampshire. Know that this is much more than a surface argument. When you look at the numbers, Mitt Romney has received more votes and delegates than any other Republican candidate to date.

Despite this, all you will see from the media is that the GOP race is wide open, and that there is no frontrunner. While the former is true, there are many primaries to come, the latter is not true. As of right now, we indeed have a republican frontrunner. His name is Mitt Romney.

This isn’t a pontification, this isn’t wistful thinking. It’s a cold, hard fact.

Isn’t it weird how votes don’t count when they don’t fit a certain narrative?

The only problem with the Wyoming event is that nobody gets to vote except the state party bigwigs. So, Romney didn’t “win” Wyoming as there was no public vote. He was wholly and graciously appointed “winner” by the Wyoming GOP brass. That’s not a win, that’s a declaration after a closed-door session. In my book, that doesn’t count because the public had no say. Period.
